Writing Tips: Outlining/Plotting Vs Discovery Writing/Pantsing – by Joanna Penn…

A combination of plotting and discovery writing is typically how I write, it usually helps me to plot a character’s back story, that can be fed into the main plot at relevant points. Keeping track of how your characters develop over the course of a book or series, can help you with flashbacks or flash forwards, if you utilise these methods in your story. It’s important to remember though that unless you bring everything together into one cohesive story, then you are going to be left with a half finished draft.
